HELLO ALL!!
SO! To start, last Monday Sister Stott and I got haircuts from a lady who goes by "Big Mama" and she was a character lol. She would say phrases like, "Ah Honey, that's not how we do things," and "I'm a cosmetologist not a butcher." She was pretty funny. I got my bangs cut and she actually cut the too long so later that week I trimmed them. Anyways so you'll see some pics of that(:
On P-day we also played chair soccer...holy cow the Elders like to boot it. And they don't seem to care if you're in the way. Lol, it was still a good time, and I actually surprised myself and got a few sniper shots in. I actually got a lot of people out at one point, so it was a little tragic when I was finally out because then they all got back in. Fun time tho!
On Tuesday we had a great tine doing a Family Home Evening with a struggling single mom and her kids(: Her kids are all super friendly and high energy, but they actually stayed pretty calm for us! It was awesome, we had a lesson about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and talked about keeping our commandments. We got some paper and each cut out a paper sword, then wrote something that would keep us from keeping the commandments of God. Then we "buried" our swords like the Anti-Nephi-Lehis. We had to get creative with the burying part because the ground outside is all frozen, so instead we "buried" them in the scraps of paper we cut up... I'm glad the kids we all young enough that they went along with itx) It was a good lesson though and they all seemed to understand what we were trying to teach(:
On Wednesday....We got smartphones!!! Crazy! Haha, we actually had interviews that day and were supposed to set up phones while having interviews, but then we kinda got hung up doing our phones... Sister Hancock was trying to transfer our contacts...but then she actually deleted them...So that was unfortunate. But our new phones are awesome and have already been helpful, so it's a blessing(:
And then, on Thursday we finally met...after two months of attempted contacting...the man...the myth...the legend....DAVID BURTON!!!!! I have no idea where lessons with this guy will go, but Sister Thomas and I tried time and time again to contact this guy, and then Sister Stott and I have tried the whole month she was here... SO I'm just happy we finally made contact!! He was super chill and friendly, even though we were blocking his garage and he had to get out into the mud. He said we could come back so we'll see where it goes!!(:
On Saturday we had to take our car in to get it serviced and oh my heck, the car guys were great to us! Our car is ridiculously muddy (mainly from David Burton's driveway) and the mats inside were even worse. Well they took our mats out and washed them for us!! They're already muddy again...but we appreciated it!!!
That night was sup[er eventful thoughx) We had dinner with a member's family and HAAAAAAH. They're 14 yr old was definitely way to excited to see Sister Stott and ix) Oh goodness, he was crushin and it was hilarious. After dinner though we spent time in their neighborhood and GOT A NEW INVESTIGATOR!!! His name is Nathaniel and he is the best 12 year old boy I've met! He's super chill and willing to let us teach him and he just absorbed it all!! I've got some high hopes for this boy, he's gonna do great!
That about sums up my week! Oh, and the jehovah witness experience from last week. i guess i can throw that in too...
So we had gotten stranded out in a small 3 house sorta kinda what you would call a neighborhood. Our car was almost out of miles so we got a ride to a lesson, but then the person we were seeing was actually sick. So we started walkin and making our way back somewhere as we tried to think of a destination. A super sweet member drove by and picked us up, asking where we needed to go. We really had no good plan yet so I just told her the bigger neighborhood area and frantically tried to come up with a name. Well Paula's house was the first house I saw so I directed her to take us there.
Paula is a lady I had actually never met before, but just been told about. I was told she has issues with the Book of Mormon, but will still let missionaries in to discuss religion so I thought we'd try her. Mistake. We saw a car and were like "hey cool i think she's home!" so we knock and she was and let us in. We walked in and saw these two ladies sitting at a table with their bible's out and we were like "oh are you having a bible study? cool!" they said yes and after a little pause she goes "Well this ought to be interesting, we have two mormons, two jehovah witnesses, and me!" I know, it sounds like a joke. But it wasn't.
Paula invited us into her living room and we hoped they'd just continue their bible study with us, but the jehovah witnesses seemed more intent on proving us wrong. So they asked what message we're out sharing and i gave them the whole restoration in a few minutes. One of them was honestly super intent on picking us apart and started jumping around the bible to prove us wrong. We'd answer and share our thoughts on a scripture and she'd see she couldn't confuse us and switch to another scripture. It was a little sad, because she definitely forgot about Paula, who she should have been focused on. Heavenly Father was with us though and didn't let us become confused or caught in any snares. We said we had to go after a bit and shared a scripture and then left. Fun time tho haha.
Anyways, i love you all! Have a great week and Happy Valentines day!!!
Love,
Sister Jensen
